Media: oil paints on wood Dimensions: 3.5" X 6" X 1/2" This painting is part of my "Italy On My Mind" series. This piece has rich layers of color and texture (=wrinkles). I can just smell that country air in a hot summer afternoon.
The Tuscan hills are always coming to my mind: they are some of Italy's most breathtaking panoramas. The tree depicted in this painting is on top of a hill in Buonconvento, a small village near Siena in Tuscany.

I love all that texture. It makes me want to touch it so bad. I know that's a no-no, but it's how I feel when I see this style of painting....that seeing it isn't enough, that to truly experience the beauty I have to feel it too. Don't know if that makes sense or not.
We have an absolutely wonderful world-class art museum here in St. Louis. I actually put my hands behind my back when I lean in close to admire the brush strokes. : )
